Proud to Announce Our 1st Place Win at IEEE x IIEE Vision to Venture

SIFPERS (Smart Industrial Fault Prediction and Emergency Response System) secured 1st Place at the IEEE x IIEE Vision to Venture competition. This achievement validates not only the technical depth of the solution, but also its real-world relevance for Pakistan’s industrial ecosystem.

At IEEE x IIEE Vision to Venture, we didn’t present a concept.
We presented SIFPERS — Smart Industrial Fault Prediction and Emergency Response System.

A system built for real Pakistani factories, not PowerPoint slides.

That distinction is why SIFPERS secured 1st Place.

This outcome wasn’t luck. It was the result of ruthless clarity, disciplined engineering, and a refusal to build something industry doesn’t actually need.

The Core Problem We Solved

Before touching machine learning, cloud analytics, or embedded intelligence, we answered three non-negotiable questions:

Who is this for?
Small to mid-sized industries in Pakistan.

What’s broken today?
Reactive maintenance, manual inspections, delayed fault response, and zero predictive insight.

Why do existing solutions fail here?
They’re expensive, complex, PLC/SCADA-heavy, and unrealistic for low-automation environments.

We started with constraints. That’s the difference.

What SIFPERS Actually Does

SIFPERS is a low-cost, hardware-first industrial safety and fault prediction system designed for real-world deployment.

  • Triggers real-time emergency actions (alerts or controlled shutdowns)

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:

Most Pakistani industries are not ready for high-end Industry 4.0 solutions. Pretending otherwise isn’t innovation — it’s ignorance.

SIFPERS bridges this gap deliberately by offering:

As team lead, my role wasn’t to do everything.
It was to eliminate noise, enforce scope discipline, and apply industrial thinking at every step.

Lessons for Engineers Who Want to Build Real Startups

If you take nothing else from this project, take these principles:

  • Stop building projects to impress professors

  • Start building systems that industries would actually BUY!

  • Low-cost and reliability outperform flashy features

  • Clarity wins competitions, funding, and trust

Innovation isn’t about adding more.
It’s about removing everything that doesn’t matter.

This win is validation — not the finish line.

Our focus moving forward includes:

  • Refining field deployment readiness

  • Improving fault prediction models using real operational data

  • Exploring pilot collaborations with local industries

  • Scaling SIFPERS into a deployable industrial product and which we are moving on with, presenting SIFPERS 2.0 at the Habib Excellence Award!
